Fed: Toomey to tell Anderson Ansett is resolving its problems

Mr TOOMEY is hopeful the crisis will be resolved by Friday.

Mr TOOMEY says the inspection began today and as soon as CASA indicate they are ready,
the first aircraft will come back into service.

Mr TOOMEY says all options for raising capital for fleet upgrading, including equity
arrangements, leasing and direct debt, are being canvassed.

Mr TOOMEY says he's not criticising CASA, saying it has a job to do, and has not yet
considered whether CASA's grounding was appropriate.

Four Ansett officers have been stood down on full pay pending investigations, which
Mr TOOMEY says is normal industry practice.

He says there should be no implication that any of the four have done the wrong thing,
until an investigation has been completed.
